I’m from Houston Texas and I am a Senior Staff Assistant at University of Texas Medical School.

On going natural…
I went natural 22 days ago because I was tired of putting chemicals in my hair and I wanted to be free from keeping up appearances as Carnisha with the long hair.

A one-word description of her transformation…
Refreshing… Since I went natural I feel more comfortable in my own skin, because I am no longer hiding behind my hair!

    ((((((((((((((((cyber hug)))))))))))))))))))))))))

i join @caramelqueen in welcoming you!

this blog is a beautiful example of empowerment. it makes me feel so good to see such an array of strong, confident, honest, and self-assured black women from all walks of life. coming together lifting one another up. its absolutely beautiful. im starting to see it more in real life too and i like it :o )

i just wanted to say, for any women who have been following along and are still on the fence. its not that we take this step because we have no fear or no doubt or have a ton of support. in fact we may have all/none of those things. there’s a saying, courage isn’t the absence of fear, its the action in spite of the fear (or something close to it). and these blogs speak to the power of imagery. and visiting just continues to be a positive force before and during. its the collective contributions that make this even possible. i just continue to be so thankful to everyone who pours their time and energy into this. i truly am. thankful.
