Congrats Leila!
Go L!
Awwww congratulations!!! Very nice picture btw!
Congrats on FGOTHW!
ps: cute pic… love the freckles
Wow girl!.Haitian/Jamaican/ American. I’m Haitian & love culture. I also love producing documentaries and I’m a journalist. Small world. Would u say the natural hair journey was hard with the career you have?
Thanks guys!!!
@ Oldinem… I find that taking care of my hair gets harder as my job gets more stressful. And unfortunately my job is often very, very stressful.
Wow you’re 24, u look younger! I love dunks 2
You interview was very nice, it’s always nice 2 learn about the woman behind the blog! I’m so hooked on bglh! “We are our most powerful when we are our most authentic.”<– So True!
p.s your gorgeous and I love your hair in that pic!
Yay Leila!!!!!
I understand. But I meant do you feel like you’re perceived as less professional or have to work harder to be taken seriously because your hair?
Thanks everyone!
@ Oldinem… Oh, lol!! Well no, I don’t think I was perceived as less professional. I will say that I didn’t feel the freedom to do a full on knot-out or twist-out at work. I don’t think it would have been appropriate. But I did buns and some half-up/half-down styles that were fine.
Reporters are a motley-looking crew anyway. With all the running around there isn’t a ton of emphasis placed on neatness/stylishness. Especially in smaller cities/counties
Well thats because you are fly!!! Btw Im expecting a baby girl in Feb2010 and Im naming her Leila. If it was a boy he would be Leim. I’m inlove with the name Leila for my little bun in the oven.
@afroness… Awwww. My parents got my name from a friend of theirs in Haiti. I’m told the name has French and Arabic roots.
Go leila!! You look so pretty, umm why is it I am not noticing you had freckles? lol
Sorry typo..why am I “now” noticing!
@ Leila… I don’t know the french root of the Name, but I know in Arabic it means Black haired beauty. It is a beautiful name for a Diva.
Nice pic. What did you do to your hair? I like it!
You are very beautifull. Are you sure you are not ready to be style icon
by the way melinda doolittle from american idol is now natural. I think she was transitioning under her wig. I love her hair http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kajNipF0vu8&feature=channel
