Where are you from?
T: I am from PG County, Maryland. I currently work as an administrative assistant, sales associate at Urban Outfitters, and personal assistant to Designer Kenny “KAS” Flannagan of Kas Collection Inc. (www.kascollectioninc.com). I am also an aspiring fashion designer, so working with Kas has been a wonderful experience for me.

When did you go natural?
T: I went natural October of 08. I cut my relaxed hair short after my high school graduation and stopped getting relaxers soon after. I was tired of chemically processing my hair, so natural was the only way to go.

Was it difficult at all?
T: Transitioning wasn’t difficult at all, and all my family and friends loved my hair. My grandmother was especially happy that I was going back natural, she didn’t want me to ever get a relaxer lol. My jobs are all very laid back so wearing my hair to work hasn’t been difficult at all.

What do you like about being natural?
T: I love the low maintenance, all I do is braid it up at night and take it out in the morning, put some moisturizer in it and I’m good to go.

Has anything in your life changed at all since going natural?
T: Nothing significant lol, I probably get a lot more compliments now because of my hair though.

What style do you like to rock?
T: I really like rocking my fro, and I am still trying out different styles.

Can you give a tutorial for one of your styles?

T: 1) After washing and conditioning hair, moisturize hair as you normally would. (I like to use Shea butter)
2) Begin to part hair in sections and twist hair starting at the back and working your way to the front.
3) Once your hair is fully twisted, use bobby pins to pin hair up in a style of your choice.

I really like this style because it is easy and doesn’t take long to do (your arms may get tired though). This style lasts for a while, just tie your hair up at night with a nice scarf.

What do you use in your hair?
T: I use Carol’s Daughter Hair Milk, and Lisa’s Hair Elixir, as well as Shea Butter. I’m still looking for products to try, and this blog has helped me a lot with that, I love the product reviews.

If your hair had a nickname, what would it be? Why?
T: E. Badu lol, everyone always calls me that anyway because of my hair, not to mention, I LOOOOVE her haha.

Is there a blog/webpage where we can find you?
T: My blog: www.versitilesimplicity.blogspot.com
Twitter: www.twitter.com/meeekmillz

It is really easy to do and here is how I achieve it:

1.) I divide my hair into two sections. A big chunk in the back and then a little section in front.

2.) The night before I put the big section at the back into a single plait. Then I twist the section in front into 10 or so twists. Then I put the twists into Bantu knots. I go to sleep like this.

3.) The next day I take out the two plaits at the back and add some gel or holding spray so that I can brush the sides and so that the sides will stay flat without any frizz.

4.) Then I usually put the back into a French braid going upwards.

5.) Then I take out the Bantu knots and untwist the hair in front and the result is that the hair looks all wavy. So I take out my bobby pins and pin the front into place as you see in front.
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_MxNqONrSknY/Srd7lZqViAI/AAAAAAAAEZ0/cokqZRxIvQk/s320/Photo+25.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5383907762018551810" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 200px; height: 196px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_MxNqONrSknY/Srd_Fg3OYsI/AAAAAAAAEac/34C_lZNBYgA/s200/P7180015.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5383911612242354882" />

What I like about this style is that it is the result of a three in one style. I start the week with twists.

Then after about 5 days I can wear the twists in such a way that I French braid the back but have the front loose

Then at the tail end of the week, I “Bantu knot out/ twist out” the front and French braid the back to have the last hair style.
~Oghomwen
http://onaturals.blogspot.com/
http://generationmakeithappen.blogspot.com/
http://secretsthemovie.blogspot.com/
http://writingexamples.blogspot.com/

***update 1/5/09***
okay, kinkycurlycool provided the how-to for the rod-set. here it is:

To rod you will need:
1. Mousse
2. Orange Rod Rollers (or what over color you have)
3. End papers (to prevent hair from snagging on the rollers)
4. Small tooth comb to help smooth hair before putting in rollers
5. Large tooth comb to continue helping while during general combing

How to:
At this point, hair is probably at least 80% dry and still kind of damp.
Hair is still sectioned into large twist.
Use the wide tooth comb to comb through each twisted section
I started from the back (nape of neck) applying rollers.
It will probably be easier to take down the back twist and part off your first row and then re-twist hair
I put 4 rollers in the back and my goal was to do the brick layering system

For each part:
Apply small amount of mousse to sectioned hair
Smooth with small tooth comb
Encase (taco) hair with end papers and pull paper just over ends of hair… side note, apply enough mousse to lightly saturate end papers so that it is secured on hair.
When rolled, start at the bottom of the roller and roll your way up (if possible, roller should be in a vertical position, not horizontal) to give it a more spiral look.

After rolling completely, allowed hair to dry completely; for me, that meant overnight and into part of the next day.
I waited to the last minute to unroll because I didn’t (and currently do not use heat (ok, except for September 2008 when I had my hair pressed: / )
When unrolling the hair, do not pull the hair; allow it to set in place as you finish unrolling your entire head. This way if by chance you need to reroll, the hair has had minimal manipulation = fewer frizzes and it should be fairly easy to roll back, if needed.
Do not use a comb to comb through the hair, instead, use your fingers and separate each curled section into about 3 or 4 smaller sections, coaxing the hair in smaller spiral.
Your finished product will be a head full of beautiful curls!

Enjoy your rod set!
