KIERRA

I use Dr. Bronner’s Baby Mild liquid soap as a shampoo and Herbal Essence Hello Hydration for conditioner. I deep condition once a month with Dr. Miracle’s Deep Conditioning Treatment while sitting under the dryer for 30-45 minutes. I experimented with henna recently, and plan to use it once a month. Also, I moisturize my hair daily with a mixture of pure shea butter and essential oils. As far as my ends, let’s just say they need some love asap!

Castor oil
Refer to Jenteel’s post. Ditto on all she said. I am super excited a bottle cost less than $2 US here in St. Lucia. I’ll be stocking up before I leave. I use it to deep condition, as grease, to seal the ends of my twist and mixed with water for a spritz. I’ve been spending a lot more time at the beach and castor oil helps after the sun, sand and salt!
Coconut oil (cold pressed & unprocessed)
Also fairly inexpensive in the islands. I use it to grease my scalp and mixed with water for a refresher/spritz. Also for my skin.
Suave conditioner in coconut or the one on sale
I use this to wash my hair.
Miss Jessie’s Curly Buttercrème
This works for me right out of the shower to keep my ‘fro tamed. It is pricey and gets mixed reviews but it works for me. I especially like the look and feel when I am in an hurry and rub a little through my wet air and go.
Honey
I use honey to deep condition with castor oil or as a ‘gel’ for a little hold. And no…I do not get eaten by ants.

VALERINE

Organix Soothing Shea Butter
I use this product everyday as my leave-in and styling product. It smells wonderful and it makes my hair soft and moisturized.
Mixture of Coconut & Extra Virgin Olive Oil
I have a mixture of this that I keep in a plastic container. It’s melted to a liquid form and I use it to twist my hair. I rub it throughout my hair and it helps to keep my hair shiny and not feeling or looking dry.
Glycerin and Water
I have a mixture in a spray bottle that I use for twisting, as a spritzer or spraying it on my hair and putting on a scarf to hold the edges down. This is a must have for me, especially when I’m twisting on dry hair.
Carol’s Daughter Lisa’s Hair Elixir & Black Vanilla Hair Smoothie
Every couple of weeks, I oil my hair with the hair elixir and then spread the hair smoothie on it and comb through. I leave this on for about an hour and sometimes I will sit under the dryer with a plastic cap. I started doing this after I went to a Carol’s Daughter presentation at Macy’s. They told us it would make your hair more manageable. I didn’t believe them, but bought some anyway to try it. I have to agree it works. I can comb through my roots with no problem and I used to not be able to do that. (This hair elixir has a strong smell so use at your discretion).
Hair Mayonnaise
I used to use this when I had a relaxer b/c I always wore color in my hair and wanted to make sure it was conditioned and stayed strong and healthy. I still use it once per week.

Aussie’s 3 Minute Miracle
This is actually a rinse out conditioner but I use it as a leave-in. It smells great and is not heavy.
Devacurl No Poo
This is a good shampoo to use everyday. There are no suds of any foam so my hair does not feel dry, hard, or stripped.
Miss Jessie’s Curly Meringue
This is a styling product I use. I recently switched from mousse because of the alcohol content. I love the way Miss Jessie’s makes my curls feel and look. I can keep a style for at least three days before I need to rinse my hair and start over. Just a little water from a spray bottle or Carol’s Daughter spray leave in and Miss Jessie’s helps my curls bounce right back. A little goes a long way.
Carol’s Daughter Hair Milk
A great daily moisturizer that I use anytime I need to refresh my curls. Very light and smells great.
Carol’s Daughter Khoret Amen Leave In Conditioner spray
Most times I use it in the morning to freshen my curls, but if I need to freshen up for the evening and don’t have time to re-do my hair I spray the leave in on and put on my shower cap. Once I am out of the shower, my hair looks great!
